lewis clark caverns

Lewis & Clark Caverns
Located 1 hour from Bozeman, MT these spectacular underground caverns offer visitors a chance to take a tour through colorful stalagmites, stalactites, columns, and flowstone. Discovered in the early 1840s by local ranchers, the caves have been toured by visitors since the early 1900s.

Proclaimed the Lewis and Clark Caverns by Theodore Roosevelt, the caverns offer visitors a unique look at nature's underground beauty. The caverns are open for tours May 1 - September 30.

Virginia City
Once a booming gold mining town, Virginia City was also the original capitol of the Montana territory. Located 14 miles from Ennis on Highway 287, Virginia City offers visitors the opportunity to walk along boardwalks and relive a part of the past.

Both historic and architecturally significant, the past comes alive and your imagination will take over when your visit the restored buildings in the city frozen in time. The Opera House provides summer stock theatre and a vaudeville variety show.

Grant-Kohrs Ranch

The heritage of the cowboy and cattleman lives on at Grant-Khors Ranch National Historic Site. Reflecting 130 years of history, visitors can tour the cattle baron's manor, cowboy bunkhouse, horse barn and blacksmith shop. Founded in 1860 by Stockman John Grant, the ranch became home and headquarters of Cattle Baron Conrad Kohrs. Grant - Kohrs Ranch is a time capsule of a vanished way of life.

Gardiner MT

Gardiner is located at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park which features the famous Roosevelt Arch as well as numerous restaurants and shops. Founded in 1880, Gardiner became a center of activity for visitors to the region, serving as the original and only year round entrance to the park.

This frontier town fed and sheltered miners and entertained the early soldiers who operated Yellowstone Park. Elk regularly roam around town, while Big Horn Sheep come down from the mountains to graze within view.

West Yellowstone
This Montana town was first settled and became an "official" entrance to Yellowstone Park in 1907, the year the Oregon Short line was completed. Today West Yellowstone is an active tourist town sitting at the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

Its newest attractions are the Grizzly Discovery Center, and the National Geographic Theatre giving visitors the chance to view grizzly bears and wolves closely.

Madison Valley Day Trip
In this 240 mile day trip through the Madison Valley, You'll find a wide variety of things to see and do. There are spectacular views of the mountains and lush valleys, as well as plenty of little towns to stop and walk around.

The Open Range Day Trip
This leisurely 190-mile drive takes you on a breathtaking drive through the mountains and eventually through some of the best farmland and ranches in Montana. This area is also steeped in history, taking you to important spots along Lewis and Clark's expedition.

Old West Day Trip
Take some time and see the way the west really was. For a short day, make the 37 mile drive from Bozeman to the Lewis & Clark Caverns and do some exploring. For those with more time, carry on and travel through ghost towns, fish the rivers or maybe dabble in the hot springs along the rest of this 170 mile tour.
